Wales McLelland completed the construction of this food processing plant complete with a 5,000 sq.ft. second floor mezzanine. The building is constructed of tilt-up concrete wall panels on footings and retained walls with a steel structure, open web steel joists, metal decking, and a ballasted EPDM roof. Additionally, a portion of the building was designated for future tenant or owner expansion. Our work included the installation of freezers, coolers, refrigeration equipment and a fully operational commercial assembly line kitchen. The second floor includes change rooms, offices, a staff room, washrooms and a future demonstration kitchen. An additional element affecting construction was the location; the building site is near an existing salmon bearing stream which required construction to be executed under strict guidelines from authorities having jurisdiction.
