Six Projects Completed for BCGEU

Wales is proud to have completed six projects for the BCGEU throughout BC, including a LEED Gold Certified head office in Langley, as well as LEED Certified regional offices Prince George, Terrace, and Fort St. John, a design-build regional office in Kelowna, and a tenant improvement regional office in Nanaimo. In total, Wales McLelland constructed 47,260 sq. ft. of regional office space for this repeat client.

LEED GOLD Certified Head Office in Langley

The BCGEU selected Wales McLelland to provide a Construction Management Service package to build their new LEED GOLD Certified Head Office located in Wesgroup’s prestigious Gateway 200 Business Park. The facility has been finished with very high-end interior design features including exposed wood planking, glass pendant lighting and a fireplace in the spacious lobby, as well as shaped acoustical ceiling treatments and a large tiled staff kitchen with a large window providing abundant natural light.

LEED Certified Office in Prince George

Wales McLelland was awarded the contract to complete a new, three storey office building for the BCGEU in Prince George. The building will have a total of 13,500 sq.ft. over three floors and has been designed to achieve LEED Certified status. It is constructed using structural steel and concrete pad foundation with facebrick veneer cladding on the exterior. Our work includes the removal of an existing parking lot, below grade damproofing, custom millwork, the installation of two elevators, curtain wall to the front entrance and two sides of the underside of the third floor lobby, as well as the restoration of two city sidewalks.

LEED Certified Office Building in Fort St. John

The BCGEU selected Wales McLelland to be the design-build contractor for this commercial office building in Fort St. John. This turnkey, two storey office building totals 6,000 sq.ft. and encompasses office areas, a lunch room/servery, a dividable 800 sq.ft. conference room, and an 8,000 sq.ft. paved parking lot complete with landscaped areas. This building is built to LEED Certified standards and has been finished with several external features such as composite metal panels complete with a rainscreen system, and cedar cladding to soffit areas where shown on render drawings.

LEED Certified Office in Terrace

This single story, single tenant commercial office building will be the sixth time that Wales McLelland is building with the BC Government Employees Union. Our work includes detailed excavation and backfill, millwork, soft landscape, and irrigation. Some exterior finishing detail includes cedar cladding to soffit areas and composite metal panels complete with a rainscreen system. This BCGEU building is built to LEED certified standards.

Design-Build in Kelowna

The BCGEU selected Wales McLelland to be the design-build contractor for this new office building, the third we have built for this client. Before we could begin construction, demolition and site prep included the removal of an existing house. This two storey building totals about 5,960 sq.ft. with design features incorporating wood, fascia brick, and glass curtain wall.

Tenant Improvement in Nanaimo

Wales McLelland was hired as the General Contractor and Construction Manager for this tenant improvement office fit-out for the BCGEU. Several items were required within fairly small room sizes, and several items needed to be coordinated and re-routed to fit within a tight t-bar and acoustical ceiling tile space. Wales McLelland also coordinated the interior features including a feature reception desk at the main entrance, feature tiles and millwork in the serveries, several types of flooring and wall treatments, as well as wood frame glass partitions with sliding doors for individual offices.
