Project UBC Library PARC

Wales McLelland was chosen to complete construction of this library that is intended to accommodate the future growth of collections. It is located at UBC Vancouver’s South Campus and will house research collections for the long-term. It provides high density collection storage including space for a small digitization area, a contained freezer area for decontamination, a staff work area and a publicly accessible reading room.

Storage facilities of this kind were first established at Harvard in the 1980s, and only about 40 such facilities currently exist at universities across North America. This single storey building is built using tilt-up concrete and has achieve LEED Certified status.
